Mary L. Gary, Veterinarian/Owner
I was born and raised in Grant County, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, I worked in a variety of practice situations to gain a diversified knowledge of medicine and surgery, as well as practice management. My diversified experience, and a recent trip to the American Veterinary Medical Association national conference, has allowed me to bring innovative ideas to the hospital such as individualized pet care, alternate vaccination schedules, booking ahead appointments, and laser therapy treatments. I have enjoyed 11 years at Hometown, and am thankful that it has allowed me to provide a service to the residents of Grant County and their furry friends. In my personal time, I enjoy participating in outdoor family recreation such as, camping, fishing, and horseback riding with my two boys. I also enjoy reading, bowling, genealogy, and travel.
Paige Howard, RVT
I graduated from Purdue University in 2007 with my AS, and in 2008 with my BS, in Veterinary Technology. My favorite duties as an RVT are performing anesthesia and assisting in surgery. I enjoy meeting clients and providing them with quality care for their pet. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, crafting, and being outside.
Jeanne Haisley-Samons, Veterinary Assistant
I have lived in the Gas City area all my life. I graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1973, and Ivy Tech Community College in May of 2008 with a degree in Medical Assisting. I am a proud mother and grandmother, and currently have a German Shorthair Pointer, Graci and a Doberman, Dreamer. I formerly trained and showed my dogs in obedience and rally. I started here at Hometown Animal Hospital 11 years ago as Veterinary Assistant upon graduating from Ivy Tech, and I have loved every day of it! I love the pets and people I meet. I finally have a career that I have always wanted with a Veterinarian I love and trust!
Sarah Barker, Veterinary Assistant
I was born and raised in Hartford City, IN and now I live in Upland with my husband, Ryan, my bearded dragon, Lucius, and my two kitties, Dottie and Oreo. I graduated from Taylor University with a degree in biology in 2016, and have since joined Dr. Gary’s team as a veterinary assistant. What I love most about my job is getting to assist in surgeries and also getting to help heal people’s sick pets. Outside of work I enjoy hiking and camping, spending time with my family, and reading a good book.
Trina Griffith, Client Care Specialist
I was born and raised in Gas City and graduated from Mississinewa High School. My husband, Mike, and I have two sons and two precious grandkids. I have enjoyed working in medical offices for many years before coming to work at Hometown Animal Hospital. I have found that working here has been a very rewarding experience. Outside of work I enjoy photography, gardening, spending time with my family and taking short trips with Mike on the Harley. Welcome to Hometown Animal Hospital!
Bob and Wally, Clinic Mascots
Wally is our lovable gray & white kitty, with a stubby tail and extra toes! He has been with us since we opened in 2008. He came to us from Helping Paws Cat Rescue in Huntington, Indiana. When they found him his tail was missing, and Dr. Gary did surgery to help repair him. Wally stole her heart, and she knew he would have to become a part of our Hometown Family! Since joining Hometown, Wally has been shown in 4-H and won Reserve Champion Cat at the Grant County 4-H Fair in 2009 & 2010. He has since retired and spends most of his time sleeping on the front desk and welcoming our guests! Bob is our black & brown tiger stripe kitty. He came to us in 2010 when he was found in a cornfield near Dr Gary’s home. He has won Grant County Grand Champion cat in 2011 and Reserve Champion cat in 2012 & 2013. He spends his time sleeping in Jeanne’s chair or watching from his perch on top of the cabinets in the pharmacy.
