Mary L. Gary, Veterinarian/Owner

I was born and raised in Grant County, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, I worked in a variety of practice situations to gain a diversified knowledge of medicine and surgery, as well as practice management. My experiences have allowed me to bring innovative ideas to the hospital such as individualized pet care, alternate vaccination schedules, booking ahead appointments, and laser therapy treatments. I have over 25 years of experience and have enjoyed 13+ years at Hometown. I am extremely thankful that it has allowed me to provide a service to the residents of Grant County and their furry friends as well as support my family and my community. I am the mother of two phenomenal young men who are growing up faster than I would like. In my personal time, I enjoy participating in many outdoor activities like boating and horseback riding. I also enjoy cooking, reading, bowling, genealogy, and travel.

Kristen Johnson, Office Manager

I was raised in Alexandria, IN and graduated from Alexandria-Monroe High School. I have an Associates’s degree in Business Management from Indiana Business College. My husband and I raised our 3 children on the family farm where I grew up. Currently, our family works together on the farm to run our show pig business, DKJ Genetics. We raise Spots, Herefords, Durocs, Berks, and Crossbred show pigs for 4-H and open shows. My father is a veterinarian, so I feel very at home here. I have found a job at Hometown Animal Hospital that I love. I am blessed with very dedicated and caring co-workers. I enjoy meeting our clients and fur babies. In my free time, I enjoy refinishing furniture, playing with my 3 dogs, going to pig shows and spending time with friends and family.

Ashley Clevenger, Veterinary Technician

Growing up I always knew I wanted to do something with animals when I got older. I first started working in the veterinary field my senior year of high school as a kennel attendant, from there I went on to college to get my associates in animal science. I have now been a veterinary technician for 9 years, four of those years I spent as the technician at Animal Care and Control in Fort Wayne. Part of my heart truly lies in the shelter environment and helping those animals. Still, one thing I did miss at the shelter was getting to talk to and educate clients and building those relationships and for that reason, I am excited to be on this team here at Hometown. I’m also excited to be here because there is too much testosterone in my household, haha. I have the most amazing husband and two little boys at home. I’m excited to be working with such a great team of girls!

Hailey Hobbs, Veterinary Assistant:

I grew up on a farm in Sharpsville, Indiana, and graduated Tri-Central High School in 2017. In May of 2021, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University; my degree is in Psychological Science, but my passion is working with animals. I have experience working with a large variety of animals including dogs and cats, rodents, reptiles, and birds. I also have quite the zoo of my own at home: a dog (Buck), a cat (Ophie), a bearded dragon (Mr. Pinch), and a leopard gecko (Ridley). I enjoy reading, drawing and painting, and spending time with my family, friends, and pets in my free time. I’m so thankful to have found a job at Hometown Animal Hospital that allows me to work with amazing people, meet great clients, and help care for their fur babies!

Vanessa Ford, Client Care Specialist

I grew up in a large family and had all kinds of pets growing up. One of my most memorable was our Dachsund named Gretchen, and a squirrel our dad named Skippy. I have been in the midwest for 30 years. I was a stay-at-home mom for years homeschooling my children. After getting back into the workforce and being at a previous job for several years, I wanted a job where I could be learning daily and that would challenge me. And that is how I came to work at Hometown Animal Hospital. I love animals so I knew I would enjoy working here. Watching Dr. Mary and our vet crew work with so many animals and helping them and their owners have happy healthy lives is so rewarding. I have learned so much being here at HAH and know that I am in the right place.

Jennifer Sollars, Client Care Specialist

I was born in Michigan and raised here in Gas City. I’m the middle of 5 siblings. I graduated from Mississinewa high school in 2009 and right after High School I worked for the Indianapolis Zoo for a year which was an amazing experience. I have a yorkie named Remi who loves everyone. When I’m not working I love trying new things and spending time with family. I’ve always had a love for animals and working with animals is something I’ve wanted to do since I was little. Being here at Hometown gives me the chance to do it again!

Jeanne Haisley-Samons, Veterinary Assistant

I have lived in the Gas City area all my life. I graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1973, and Ivy Tech Community College in May of 2008 with a degree in Medical Assisting. I am a proud mother and grandmother, and currently have a Doberman, Dreamer. I train and show my dog in obedience and rally. I started here at Hometown Animal Hospital in 2008 as Veterinary Assistant upon graduating from Ivy Tech, and I have loved every day of it! I love the pets and people I meet. I finally have a career that I have always wanted with a Veterinarian I love and trust!

Devon Dill, Practice Consultant

I grew up here in Gas City, graduated from Mississinewa High School in 2018, and am currently completing a degree in Marketing & Finance through Purdue University. I have been around animals my entire life and have worked at Hometown in several different roles since 2016. My favorite part of working here is making friends with all of the new puppies and kittens that come in. Doctor Gary runs a great office here and I’m proud to be a part of a team that feels more like a family!

Aundreya Kennedy- Veterinary Assistant

I am a proud mother to 3 young boys, a fur mom to 4 furbabies, which include a german shepherd, a pittie, a bernese mountain pup, and a cat. Although I was not born in Indiana, I was raised in Grant County all of my life. I mostly grew up with cows and dogs. I also grew up with a big heart, especially for animals. I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian and work with animals since I was a little girl. But, God chose a different life for me by blessing me with my oldest son. I decided then to go with my backup career interest. Where I had studied psychology and worked in the mental health field. Although working in the mental health field, I felt I wanted something more and was always drawn back to the veterinary field, I then decided it was time for me to pursue what makes me feel fulfilled. So here I am! I now get the best of both worlds by caring for animals and helping their humans give them their best life possible while at Hometown Animal Hospital! My long term goal is to become a registered veterinary technician as this field is my passion!
